FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
DIRECTIONS – How do I find you?
Follow River Heads Road 7kms from Booral Road turn off. As soon as you see the 60 sign you turn left at the top of the next hill. It is very deceptive as there is a double white line going up the hill and the break in the lines is only visible once you are upon the turn off. Drive down the hill and you will arrive at the security gate.
EARLY ARRIVAL – Can we check in early? No
We are a husband and wife team and we have opened up our property for you to enjoy. We spend a lot of time making sure our facilities are clean and we cannot keep up the standards we like to maintain if we are busy attending to early arrivals before 2pm. Your number will be registered into the gate at 2pm so you can phone the gate as per your email confirmation from 2pm onwards. So please don’t arrive early and then phone and keep pressing the buzzer hoping that we will let you come in because you have decided to arrive early.
CONTACT US – What is the best way to contact you?
By email – frasercoastrvpark@gmail.com
We are very busy and cannot answer the phone all the time. If you do want to phone and you want us to call you back, please leave us a message. The best way to contact us is by email though.
Cancellation policy – our cancellation fee is $50 per booking. Alternatively you may receive a credit to use any time, waivering the cancellation fee and this credit is fully transferable if you are unable to use it. Your booking is non refundable if you cancel less than 48 hours before your allocated check-in time. All bookings attract a $4 admin fee and entry to the park is via pre-paid booking only. If no payment is received for your booking it will automatically cancel. If final payment is not received before arrival date, the access instructions will not be sent to the security gate. One vehicle equals one site.
WATER – Is the water safe for drinking?
All our tap water here is from Wide Bay Water Supplies and we have been told we have the best drinking town water in Australia. If you want to fill up your tanks – please do so at the Ironbark tree just outside the security gate. It is best to fill up before entering the park.
GREY WATER – Where do I put my grey water?
Please use your common sense when disposing of grey water. You can run your hose out to where you know no one is camping or put into a bucket and tip into the bushland if we are busy and there are a lot of campers around you. This is seldom a problem.
DUMP POINT – Do you have a dump point? NO
There is a 24 hour free access dump point at the Hervey Bay Tourist Information Centre on the Hervey Bay/Maryborough Road, 20 minutes away. Please note there is a $500 penalty for anyone found dumping their waste on the property. We are in an environmentally sensitive area and we are very mindful of our wonderful natural surroundings and want to preserve this beautiful property so others can enjoy.
NATURE RESERVE – Can I drive in the nature reserve? NO
40 acres of the property has been dedicated to Land for Wildlife and there are several walking trails around the reserve. There are maps on the bush kitchen table and on the website. No driving in the nature reserve.
WILDLIFE – What sort of wildlife is there?
Wild pigs have been spotted down the back corner of the nature reserve as well as foxes and hares. Kangaroos can often be seen around the front gate of the property, however sometimes you can here them hopping through the bush. They usually scatter when they hear humans coming. We have not seen any koalas on the property. 69 species of birds have been identified on the property so far.
BIRD FEEDING – Do you feed the birds?
We try and feed the birds every morning around 7:30am and in the afternoons at 4:30pm behind the house.
RUBBISH – Where are the rubbish bins?
There are several bins located behind the bush kitchen. There are crates scattered around the camp sites for your recycling of bottles and cans. These are collected and taken to the recycling center with proceeds going to our chosen charity “Just 4 Kids”. Please do the right thing and put your recycling in the recycling bins.
SMOKING – Is there a designated smoking area? NO
You are permitted to smoke anywhere around your campsite. Please do not leave your cigarette butts on the ground as we are in an environmentally sensitive area. No smoking in Bush Kitchen please. There is a butt bucket at the round table beside the Tank Block.
OFFICE HOURS – What are your office hours?
We open the office between 2pm and 5pm most days. We are usually busy taking care of business and cleaning outside these hours.
FRASER COAST DOG CARE – Can you mind our fur babies while we go to Fraser Island (K’gari) for the day?
Yes we can for the day only. We charge $50 per dog.
FIREWOOD
We have firewood available for $15 per 15kg crate. Our firewood lots are weighed. There is an honesty slot in the bbq pig outside the office door or we can put on your account. Please try and organize this during office hours.
FIRE PITS
We have firepits scattered around the Park and you are also welcome to use your own firepit provided it is off the ground. If you can’t find a firepit around your campsite, just let us know and we will arrange one for you. If there is a fire ban in place it will be written on the white board outside the office.
WI-FI
We have free wifi available – the password is on the whiteboard outside the office.
SECURITY
We are very security conscious and entry to our property is by pre-paid booking only. We strive to keep our property in pristine condition for all our paying customers. We do not allow drive through inspections of sites prior to your arrival. There is plenty of information on the website including aerial photographs and maps of the sites. We cannot disturb our existing guests by allowing others to drive around “just to have a look”. We have received a few bad reviews from people who drive here and expect to gain entry just because they want to! We are mindful of looking after our existing guests and maintaining our high security standards. This also means that if you are fortunate enough to be staying on our property you don’t invite all your friends to come in and stay with you as well. Any outside visitors need to gain clearance from the office. Aerial map
POWER
We have limited powered sites and you are required to park as far away from your power bollard as possible. We are not a caravan park where you have to get right up close to the bollard and plug in. The idea is that everyone gets to have a plot of land around them and spread out and enjoy the natural surroundings. There are no concrete slabs and there is water hook up at the power bollards.
MIDGES & MOZZIES
We share our property with all creatures great and small. Once the temperature is over 25 degrees the little critters will come out and bite you. Some people are more reactive to getting bitten than others. We have a product here called Good Riddance which we use. It is very effective, non toxic and smells great. We also have a range of oils, diffusers, candles and bite relief products. We also recommend you cover up.
SHOPS
The local IGA is 2.5kms down the road on your way to the Ferry which is 3kms. They are open 6am to 6pm every day and sell ice, gas, groceries and takeaway food. The River Heads Café are also open for breakfast and lunch and do pizzas on Thu/Fri nights. The local Pharmacy has everything you need as well as souvenirs and there is also a Real Estate Office.
NOISE
No noise after 10pm please. Most people are in bed early and need their beauty sleep for the next adventurous day whilst visiting Fraser Coast RV Park. If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to send us an email.
