Boat Hire

In Hervey Bay Boab Boats has 3 boats  in our services – we offer the launch and retrieval of the vessels to most local ramps (tide depending), our main location is Urangan harbour, Gatakers, Point Vernon and River heads. Additional fees apply for Burrum heads. So no need to stress about towing, launching etc however the vessels are all on trailers so this can be an option for multiple day hires or if anyone wishes to go outside the local area (ie Paradise dam, 1770, Baffle creek, Tin Can Bay etc)

The boats are all equipped with GPS/fishfinder combos for easy navigation and seeing whats below. Safety equipment is all as per AMSA domestic commercial vessel regulations. They are all equipped with a landing net, esky and shade/bimni to varying sizes the 2 bigger boats have live bait tanks.

They are all powered by Honda 4 stroke engines so fuel efficient with fuel capacity to cover multiple days, Centre Cab 200L, Sportsrider 150L, Polycraft 40L.

The 6m Centre cab is powered by a 175 hp honda

Single day rate is $545, 2 days $1070, 3 days $1575.

This can carry up to 7 people, this is the only boat able to go beyond partially smooth water, depends what sort of fishing you are after, it spends a lot of time fishing the northern end of Fraser Island.

The 5.5m Sportsrider is powered by a 115 hp

Single day rate is $495, 2 days $970, 3 days $1425.

This is a bow rider layout and can take up to 6 people comfortably for sightseeing up around Wathumba creek and the western side of Fraser.

It also has a wake tower for those wanting to wakeboard or tube, the centre cab also has tow points. It is restricted to partially smooth water so no further than Rooneys Point in Fraser (NW corner)

The 4.5m Polycraft, Single day rate is $295, 2 days $570, 3 days $825.

The little poly is good for fishing locally in the straits and around Big woody Kingfisher bay etc, it can get further up the Island but as yet no one has tested it to far up, it carries 45L of fuel and I just have not had a chance to do a long run on it up to Wathumba (about 20Nm) to get an accurate fuel burn cruising on 15-18 knots for that distance.

We do offer longer hires but best to call for the best rates.

Fuel – fuel is an additional cost like a rental car as I normally launch and retrieve the boat I take care of the refueling its just pump price for what you used for the day. The Centre cab holds 200L and burns about 100l/day on average, the Sportsrider holds 150L and burns 60l/day on average, the poly holds 45L and runs about 25l/day.

So single days run from sunrise (6am) to 4pm, multi day hires the boat is yours from sunrise (6am) to 1 to 4pm on you final day, so if you wish to stay out over night or camp up the Island like many do the choice is up to you.

Fishing gear – we have rods for hire mainly 4-8kg Penn spin gear with 20-30lb braid, not top of the line gear but get the job done. We also hire watersports equipment inflatable tubes, wakeboards, kneeboards and waterskis with ropes and jackets so no need to bring anything we can supply it all.
