The Bobkatz best known for “The Man in the Picture” have enjoyed over
two very successful decades in the Australian Country Music scene, so far
completing eight albums, twenty singles (including two national Number One
Singles), twenty music video film clips & receiving 3 Golden Guitar
Nominations & winning “Heritage Song of the year” & “Group or Duo of the
year” at the Southern Stars Australian 2015 Independent Music Awards and
many TSA (Tamworth songwriter Awards)
Maintaining their consistency of ‘real songs”, strong use of
harmonies and that out on the veranda organic country sound,
The Bobkatz have built a steady and faithful following of “story song fans”
with current worldwide plays and streams totaling 20,000 + per month.
Sadly founding member, songwriter and lead vocalist/bassist Garry Koehler
passed away in October 2019 after a 3 year battle with cancer.
Tribute shows to Garry in Tamworth in 2020 performed by The Bobkatz with
Garry’s daughter Sarah on lead vocals were extremely popular and after careful
thought The Bobkatz decided to continue with Sarah upfront performing her
father’s wonderful songs.
The subsequent new albums “The Truth Is” (2021) & “Keepin it Real”(2023)
contain a combination of songs written & co written by Garry sung by Sarah &
Garry. These albums are a fitting tribute to Rob’s best mate & Sarah’s Dad,
Garry Koehler, one of Australia’s finest songwriters.
With over 7,000 fans streaming a steady 15,000 + streams per month, The
Bobkatz have a bright future in the ever changing music business.
Rob & Sarah continue to perform live at Tamworth, The Muster and in venues across the country.
